'Good luck,' Netanyahu wished for Mossad Hitman

Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly wished luck for the elements behind the recent assassination of senior Hamas commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh.

“The people of Israel trust you. Good luck,” Netanyahu said at the end of an early-January meeting with the head of the Israeli Spy Agency Mossad Meir Dagan where he was briefed on the assassination plan, wrote The Sunday Times on Sunday.

“The mission was not regarded as unduly complicated or risky, and Netanyahu gave his authorization, in effect signing Mabhouh’s death warrant,” the daily added.

The January 20 foul play in a Dubai hotel was caught on CCTV cameras, leading the Dubai police to issue arrest warrants for 11 suspects, including 10 men and a woman.

Dubai Police Chief Dahi Khalfan Tamim said on Saturday that new evidence, including credit card payments and phone calls made by the suspects, confirmed Mossad’s involvement in Mabhouh’s terror operation.

Khalfan said on Sunday that the perpetrators used “diplomatic passports” after senior member of Hamas leadership Mahmoud al-Zahar said the hit squad could have accompanied Israeli Infrastructure Minister Uzi Landau’s convoy into the United Arab Emirates.
